Chelsea Smith, the daughter of Ray and Mary Beth Smith of Vincent, graduated from Warren High School as a member of the Class of 2011. She is now attending Marietta College, where she is majoring in English with a Teacher Leadership Certificate. She was named to the dean's high honors list for both the fall semester of 2011 and the spring semester of 2012.

High honors is given to any full-time student completing at least 15 credit hours with a grade point average of 3.750 or higher in a given semester.

- Xiaoyue Ni '12, of Sichauan Province, China, recently presented her capstone research project at the semi-annual gathering of members of the Ohio-region Section of the American Physical Society.

Conducted at The Ohio State University, this year's theme for the conference was biophysics. Each year, Marietta's Department of Physics encourages its majors to attend in order to provide exposure to a variety of topics related to physics.

Ni is majoring in physics and mathematics.

- Two local residents were elected by the Marietta College student body to serve as a member of the Student Senate in 2012-13.

Jiaxin Quan '13, of Inner Mongolia, China will serve as senior class represenatitive.

Keenan Hamilton '15, of Woodsfield, will serve as sophomore class representative.
