Shirley Marie (Parsons) Smith passed away May 6, 2012, after an extended hospitalization. She was born at home in Lathrop, Ohio, on April 26, 1944, to Gail Parsons and Rozella (Lewis) Wise.
She lived in Vincent, Ohio and Orlando, Fla. most of her life. She was a Baptist by faith. Shirley was a patient, fair-minded, determined, strong-willed, creative and loving woman. Throughout her life she placed a high value on homemaking and child-rearing. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, traveling, cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing and visiting her grandchildren. She was happily awaiting the arrival of her third grandchild.
She is survived by her four grieving children, two grandchildren and numerous family and friends. She loved her family without exception. Survivors include her children: Kelley Perine of Tomball, Texas, Rebecca (Tom) Anderson of Cutler, Ohio, Brian (Barbara) Perine of Tomball, Texas, Benjamin Perine of Inverness, Fla.; her mother, Rozella Wise of Amesville, Ohio; three sisters, Linda Robertson, Robin McGhee, Susie Strauss; and two brothers, Jeff and David Parsons. She was preceded in death by her father, Gail Parsons and step-father, Fred Wise.
A memorial service will be held Saturday (May 26) at Stone-Matheny Funeral Home in Chesterhill. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon with the funeral at noon.
