Switzerland school board meets June 4
The Switzerland of Ohio Local School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. June 4 at 304 Mill St., Woodsfield. The purpose of the meeting is to consider bids received at an auction to be held Saturday and to consider any other business deemed necessary.
Screenings for breast and cervical cancer
Breast and cervical cancer screenings and education will be provided by the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine's Community Health Programs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 5 in the mobile health van at the M&M school lot on Jefferson Street between Kennebec and 7th streets in McConnelsville. Free pap tests, pelvic and breast examinations, breast health education and appointments for mammograms will be provided to uninsured and underinsured women. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 1-800-844-2654.
DJ to host dance at American Legion
Ballroom dance disc jockey Sandi Elam will be hosting a dance at the American Legion, Eighth and Wooster streets, Marietta from 8 to 11 p.m. June 9. Dress is dressy casual. The cost is $10 per person or $20 per couple at the door. Only cash will be accepted. There will also be a cash bar.

All hydrants will be flushed June 4 to 8
Tri-County Water will be flushing all hydrants from June 4 to 8. Customers who have brown water should flush the line until it is clear.
Local horseman's council will meet
The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman's Council Inc. meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., Marietta. The guest speaker will be Kirk Underschultz, who will speak on the process he underwent to be selected as a farrier for the World Equestrian Games in 2011.
Anyone interested in becoming an O.H.C. member is welcome to attend the meetings.
