Bernard "Bunt" and Norma Hollett Heiss will celebrate their golden anniversary on June 16. Their family will host an open house in their honor at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Beverly from 1 to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
The Rev. Donald Wilfong married the couple on June 16, 1962, at the Malta Methodist Church.
She is originally from Stockport and graduated from Winsor High School in 1962. She retired after 35 years from Sponey's IGA in Beverly. She enjoys playing Bunko with the Sponey's bunch and attending the grandchildrens' ballgames.
He has always lived in Waterford. He is a farmer and has worked in the construction industry doing electrical, heating/cooling and plumbing. He worked 18 years for Interlake. He belongs to the Pioneer Antique Power Association and enjoys collecting and restoring old tractors.
Both are members of the Steel Workers Union Local 6856 Retirees Group.
The couple have three daughters and sons-in-law: Johnna and Mike Tuten of Waterford, Lori and Mark Brooker of Churchtown, and Becky and Todd Stewart of Hackney. They have 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and their dog, Cappie.
Family and friends are asked to bring cards containing a sentiment or a favorite memory of the couple.
