Barbara and Herbert Parsons Jr. of Cutler will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family members over a weekend gathering on June 9. The celebration will be hosted by the family and be held at 11307 State Route 555, Cutler, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Barbara Sue Male is the daughter of the late Carl and Josephine Male and Herbert Leon Parson Jr. is the son of the late Herbert and Mary Ann Parsons. They were married on June 16, 1962, by The Rev. Guy White at his home in Guysville.
He is retired from the Athens Mental Heath Center- Hospital (The Ridges)- as the Supervisor of Grounds and Maintenance. She is a retired school bus driver for the Federal Hocking High School and currently volunteers at the Kilvert Community Center as the Director. They both are enjoying retirement and volunteering in their community.
They have four children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Their children are in the following birth order: Douglas Parsons (Michelle) and their two children Shannon and Shawn Parsons of Stewart; David Parsons (Angela) and their three children Douglas II, Channing, Shawntell Parsons of Belpre; Donna Carter (John) and their two children Kayla and Maya Carter of Racine Wis.; Debora Mayle (Kevin) and their son Kevin Jr. of Cutler. Their great-grandchild is Shalynn Parsons, daughter of Douglas (Michelle) Parsons II.
