Vivian Elaine Blair and John David Hammat are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married June 24, 1962, at the First Presbyterian Church in Marietta, with the Rev. Alun Jones officiating. The honor attendendarnts were Sandra (Frank) Blair, her sister-in-law, and Jim Hathaway, his cousin.
She is the daugher of the late Boyd and Eleanor Canter Blair. He is the son of Flora Hathaway Hammat and the late Jack Hammat.
He graduated from Marietta College and Ohi University and was employed for many years by Marietta City Schools as a history teacher and department head at Marietta High School. She graduated from Marietta High School and has been employed by a number of local businesses, most recently at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. They are members of the First Presbyterian Church.
The couple have two children: John David (Lisa) Hammat Jr. and Susan (Rick) Hammat Butler. They are the grandparents to John's children, Chelsea and Christopher.
Their children and their spouses will host a receition from 2 to 4 p.m. on July 7 at the fellowship hall of the Presbyterian Church.
