The Marietta Civitan Club, which first began its scholarship program in 1969, recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to three Washington County graduating seniors. Each applicant for these scholarships completed an application and submitted an essay and references, with finalists interviewed by the scholarship committee. Recipients were chosen based on a number of criteria, including school and community activities, scholarship and need. The following are the 2012 recipients.
- Paige Grosel is a Marietta High School graduate. The daughter of John and Patti Grosel, Paige will be attending The Ohio State University in the fall to major in accounting.
- Breanna Duff, daughter of Craig and Angela Duff, is a Warren High School graduate. Breanna will pursue a degree in chemistry at Ohio Wesleyan University.
- Marissa Schott will be attending Marshall University to pursue a nursing degree. Schott is a graduate of Waterford High School and is the daughter of Mitch and Lorraine Schott.
