Too many voters don’t pay attention

Ignorance is out of date.

The above statement was the intro to a Sunday School conference I attended several years ago in Chicago. Obviously it was meant to be an encouragement for us to use our minds, to study, to become informed, and as the Apostle tells us in Romans 12 - transforming our lives by the renewing of our minds.

Unfortunately it seems that much of our society is content to live in ignorance. Content to base their political decisions on 30 second sound bites from sources obviously biased against the Judeo-Christian worldview, accepting without question the liberal humanistic socialist worldview that supports abortion, same sex marriage, and immorality in it's various forms. I wonder if it ever occurs to those who supports and vote for liberal politicians that they too are endorsing all of the above. I do not mean to suggest that all Democrats endorse these views, but those are the views of the Democratic party, so if you vote for and support the Democratic Party you are tacitly endorsing them.

It was interesting the day after Romney had announced Paul Ryan as his vice presidential pick that several people I talked to during the day (Wednesday) had no knowledge this had happened. That was not too surprising as Fox News was the only TV station I could find that was covering this arguably the most important political event of the past several months. For some the mention of Fox News triggers unbelievably hostility - it's as if they are risking life and limb to listen to it. During the morning hours on the Wednesday after the Tuesday night announcement of Ryan as Romney's running mate, other stations had cartoons, or other drama type programs. To NBC's credit it did switch to the Olympics eventually, but prior to that no coverage of the Republican vice presidential pick.

Another comment from the conference I remember well, one encouraging people to read, was "there is little difference between those that can't read and those that don't read." Books (or magazines) discussing current issues, in my humble opinion, are a "must" read for those who want to be fully and objectively informed. All too often many treat books, articles, etc. from a conservative author or viewpoint as though they are filled with poison.

Please, dear reader, keep in mind that Hitler didn't come to power in a vacuum. He had either the active or tacit support of the people in general, the churches, the anti-god group, and the "do-gooders" who exist in many forms. Our country, as you are being reminded daily, is at a crossroads. Either we pursue a course set by those leading our country that espouse a capitalist Judeo-Christian worldview, that are pro life, pro traditional marriage, etc., or else we continue down the path of anti-god socialism, pro choice, pro gay marriage, and a secular humanistic worldview. May God cause you to think soberly about who you choose to vote for in this election.
