Affordable Care Act appreciated

August 22, 2012
The Marietta Times

My 22-year-old grandson now has health insurance, thanks to the Affordable Care Act. He works two jobs, neither of which provide health care benefits. One of his jobs is with a multi-national chain of franchises which keeps as many of their employees as possible part time to avoid providing benefits. Due to the Affordable Care Act my grandson can now be included on his father's insurance plan until he is 26.

By allowing all young people to stay on their parents' coverage until age 26, the Act is helping make a real difference for middle class families. The Act also brought down prescription drug costs for seniors and requires the insurance companies to cover preventive services at no additional costs. These changes help put us back in charge of our health care.

Thank you, President Obama and all who voted for the Act. I hope this will be remembered when people go to the polls this fall.
