The Autumn Leaves Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Betsey Mills Club gym. The festival will showcase paintings, ceramics, needlework and woodworking crafts that will be displayed and sold. There will also be plaques made from the wood of the Rufus Putnam home, which was built in 1788 1790.
A straw poll held by The Marietta Times at the Washington County Fair revealed that a majority of the 260 poll respondents feel the sheriff's department is not making enough patrols. A higher majority were not willing to raise their taxes to increase the staff of the sheriff's department.

The Rev. Daniel W. Smith sued Stephen James for slander. He sued for a total of $13,000.
The Ohio State Board of Agriculture is offering prizes in the Boy's Wheat Growing Contest.
