Richard Delmar Bloomingdale of Fairborn, Ohio passed away Friday (Sept. 7, 2012) in Dayton, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 12, 1933 in Liberty Twp., Washington County, Ohio to Lloyd and Nellie Greathouse Bloomingdale.
He was a 24-year member of the Fairborn Police Department, veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and Sales Manager at A.E. David Uniforms. He was also a member of the Fairborn American Legion Post 526.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Joan Smith Bloomingdale; his children, David R. Bloomingdale (Sharon) of Beavercreek, Richard D. Bloomingdale (Darlene) of Sugarcreek Twp., and Timothy A. Bloomingdale (Cindy) of Sugarcreek Twp.; daughter-in-law, Connie J. Bloomingdale of Beavercreek; grandchildren, Stephanie Bloomingdale Cazzell, Ryan D. Bloomingdale, Laura M. Bloomingdale, Daniel J. Bloomingdale (Jessica), Stephen M. Bloomingdale, Jeffrey M. Bloomingdale, Jason R. Bloomingdale and Joshua A. Bloomingdale; great-grandchildren, Jared Cazzell (Krysta), Justin Cazzell, Jordan Cazzell and Jaydyn M. Barrett; great-great-granddaughter, Kinley Ann; siblings, William L. Bloomingdale (Karen), Kay Santee (Ed) and Bud Bloomingdale (Shelda), all of Marietta; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald E. Bloomingdale; siblings, Lloyd Bloomingdale Jr., Betty Bloomingdale Burton, Glenda Bloomingdale Starkey and Mary Bloomingdale Carver; and brother-in-law, Herbert Smith (Nancy).
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday (Sept. 29) at Pinehurst Christian Church, Evangelist Dennis Frary officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Richard's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
