WEST LAFAYETTE - Marietta won its third consecutive East Central Ohio League golf championship at River Greens Golf Course on Wednesday.
The Tiger golfers claimed the Scarlet Division with a score of 639. Dover was runner-up with 684 points. Zanesville was third (700); Cambridge, fourth (702); and New Philadelphia, fifth (709).
Coshocton captured the ECOL Gray Division.
Leading the way, as he has all season long, was MHS senior and ECOL Player of the Year Jared Hammons, who carded a one-over par 73. Joe Broughton had an 81; Jeffery Hensler, an 81; Nathan Matheny, and 83.
All four Tigers were first-team ECOL honorees.
"For Jared, to shoot a 73 on this course says a lot," said first-year Marietta golf coach John Doughty, who was named the ECOL Golf Coach of the Year.
