Lawrence Delbert and Helen Louise Wittekind are celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary. Cards may be sent to the couple at 4700 Barnett Ridge Road, Fleming, Ohio 45729.
The couple were married on Sept. 24, 1949, at the Gilman United Methodist Church by the Rev. Calvin Rodeheffer. He is the son of the late Lawrence A. Wittekind and Ida Mae Jones Wittekind. She is the daughter of the late Clarence C. Robinson and Mamie Bell Joy Robinson.
The couple have two children: a daughter, Regina Wittekind Potaracke (Michael) of Arvada, Colorado and a son Delbert Douglas (Cheri) of Marietta. They have six grandchildren, Todd Potaracke, Chelsea Potaracke of Arvada, Colo., Leigh Ann Wittekind Modesitt (Shawn) of Marietta, Chad Wittekind (Paula) of Newark, Ohio, Chad Miller (Becky) and Keshia Albright of Belpre. They have four great-grandchildren, Caleb Sargent and Lauren Modesitt of Marietta and Kyle and Shyanna Miller of Belpre.
He retired from Elkem Metals after 27 1/2 years in 1986, and she retired from Warren Local Schools as a cook after 23 years in 1991. He just celebrated his 88th birthday on Aug. 19 and she will be celebrating her 84th birthday on Sept. 29.
