Our street has been a total mess since the county fair. I've called three times to see if the street sweeper could come by to clean it up. I was told once that it was packed down and the sweeper couldn't clean it. It seems funny that big piece of equipment couldn't pick up pebbles and dirt. That's all it was. We cleaned up in front of our house with a push broom and a shovel. Then my husband used the water hose to rinse down the dust. Funny the sweeper couldn't touch it. Maybe that was because I called three times to see if it could be cleaned. As of the writing of this letter (Sept. 10), the sweeper still hasn't touched our street. Today, we had to go through town - the day after the sternwheel festival and the sweeper had already cleaned up down there. Maybe it pays to be a merchant in this town and not a resident.
