- Belpre's annual Apple Butter Stir-Off Festival will be held this weekend. Saturday's activities include a square dance, apple pie eating contest, apple pie judging, crafts, musical entertainment and food.
- Veto Lake was drained in September to build new boat ramps and other various improvements. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources now promises that the Lake will be full of water and fish by next June.

- Dr. John Wesley Hill, president of the International Peace Forum, and Tom L. Lewis, candidate for secretary of state, delivered speeches at the G.O.P. rally. The rally was held at the Auditorium and nearly 300 Marietta-area residents attended.
- The B. & O. repairmen finally finished repairs on the waiting rooms in Marietta's Union Station. The station is now thought to be one of the better-looking ones in this part of the state.
