The Marietta Citizens for Racial and Social Justice are planning a celebration of Unity Rally on October 24. This rally will be at the same time as the Ku Klux Klan's demonstration and protest march.
Marietta College's Homecoming will be marked by the reunions of the classes of 1962 and 1977, and the dedication of the College Mall. It will also be the first homecoming for the new president of the college alumni council.

The Ohio Supreme Court will visit Marietta on Oct. 21 and hear four cases. Students from all six of the county's districts will be able to see the court in action. Marietta is the first of seven stops during the next 18 months for the Court.
Cleveland Mayor George Voinivich, who is challenging Ohio Senator Howard Metzenbaum for the U.S. Senate, will address the Washington County Republican Party's annual fish fry, Thursday, Oct. 15 at American Legion Post 64. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner will be at 7 p.m.
100 years ago
Nearly 2,000 people attended the Marietta Professionals-Cincinnati Reds game. The Reds defeated Marietta 10-0.
A report from Williamstown said that a young boy put his beagle hound into the basket on his bicycle and rode around chasing rabbits.
