- Fort Frye High School hosted its annual Pageant of the Bands. Bands competing were Warren, Belpre, Williamstown, St. Mary's, Woodsfield, and Frontier.
- The American Association of University Women will host their 56th annual book sale at the Crown of Life Evangelical Lutheran Church at Third and Wooster streets. The sale will last through Tuesday, Oct. 20. About 50,000 items are for sale.

- The Parkersburg, Marietta and Inter-Urban Railway Company has offered to furnish the city of Marietta lights for the streets. The city must pay the cost of labor and fuel. The city usually spends $9,000 to $10,000 a year for street lights, and officials believe this is a good deal.
- The Mountain State Business College and Marietta Commercial College have started a feud. The president of Mountain State was involved in a fight with two Marietta Commercial students.
