Bernard "Buzzard" and Julia Brooker of 228 Main Street, Lowell, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Oct. 27, 1962, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Marietta by Father Konas.
He is the son of the late Clement and Lucy Bauerbach Brooker and she is the daughter of the late Everett and Florence Miller Lauer. The couple owned and operated Buzzard's Bar in Lowell, Ohio for 43 years. They are also active members of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Lowell.
They have six children: Connie (Jim) Legraen of Whipple, Brenda (Ronnie) Bauerbach of Lowell, Mark (Traci) Brooker of Lowell, Jean (Preston) Henderson of Lancaster, Nancy (Rick) Schultheis of Lowell and Kelly (Ed) Scocco of Columbus. The couple also have 19 grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren: Karlee, Garrett and Seth Legraen; Stacia and Janna King, Mitch Bauerbach, Rachel (Brian) Valentine, Lauren (Sean) Collins; Ally and Emma-Claire Brooker, Megan Moore; DJ, Jesse and Erin Cunningham, Karen Rohe and Mike Henderson; Drew, Paige, Olivia, Sophia, Ross, Kate and Ashton Schultheis; and Myles and Brooker Scocco.
To celebrate their anniversary, there will be an open house Saturday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church Social Hall at 5001 Lowell Hill Road in Lowell. All family and friends are invited to celebrate with the couple. Cards are appreciated but gifts are to be omitted.
