Levy will help care for kids in tough situations

October 22, 2012
The Marietta Times

After attending my first Washington County Children Services pre-levy meeting, I was left with an even greater sense of pride in our community, specifically with those who work with the county's abused and neglected children.

The task is demanding, and the agency performs its role well, helping families become more supportive, removing children in immediate danger and protecting them until they can be returned safely to family or kin or are placed temporarily or permanently in safer situations.

As a community, we are obligated to care for those who cannot care for themselves. Yet we cannot continue to ask Children Services to help the helpless with less and less. That's why as a Washington County voter and taxpayer, I ask you to join me in voting yes on Nov. 6 for the Children Services levy. After all, every child deserves a chance ... anything else is simply unacceptable.
