MHS class to have monthly luncheon
The Marietta High School Class of 1952 will have its monthly luncheon at 11 a.m. Oct. 31. Lunch will be at East of Chicago Pizza on Pike Street. All classmates and friends are welcome.
Summit Acres plans annual soup supper
Summit Acres Skilled Nursing and Rehab will hold its annual community soup supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 25. The menu will consist of vegetable and potato soup along with hot dogs, dessert and a drink. The event is free and open to the public.
At 5:45 p.m. they will be passing out candy and treats to all the children, who should gather under the covered driveway in the back of the building to begin.
Summit Acres Skilled Nursing and Rehab also is asking for donations of treats to package for the residents to give to the children. Those who wish to donate can contact Marty Swain at (740) 732-5488.
Welfare League is accepting requests
The Marietta Welfare League is currently accepting requests from area clubs, schools, nonprofit groups and other community organizations for its annual donation distribution.
Requests must be in writing and should include information about the applicant organization. Applicants are required to explain who will benefit from the donation and to describe how the money will be used. Applicants are also expected to estimate how many individuals will benefit from requested donations. Funds may be awarded for equipment, special projects, training seminars or programs. Donations cannot be awarded to pay salaries of employees or to maintain the operating costs of an applicant organization.
The deadline for requests is Oct. 31. Applications postmarked after the deadline will not be considered. Applicants will be notified regarding the status of their proposal in late December, with funds disbursed to those selected recipients in January.
