MC music dept. to present concert
The Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music at Marietta College will present its fall choral concert entitled "Wisdom & Wit" at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the First Congregational Church, 318 Front St., Marietta. "Wit and Wisdom" is in honor of the college's 2012-2013 theme of Leadership & Social Justice. The Concert Choir and Women's Choir, under the direction of Daniel Monek, will explore the sage advice and humor of many of the world's great leaders and thinkers. The event will be free and open to the public.

Relay for Life team to hold fundraiser
The Peoples Bank "Fighting 4 Life" team is raising funds for the Washington County Relay for Life by offering a 10x13 color family portrait by Color Craft Studios for a $10 donation to the Relay for Life. Pictures will be taken at Faith United Methodist Church, 503 Seventh St., Marietta from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 3. Tickets must be paid for in cash.

Civil War group planning trip
Local Civil War Roundtable members will commemorate those from the local area who fell at the Battle of Antietam Nov. 3-4 with a trip to Antietam Battlefield, Harpers Ferry and Sharpsburg, Md. Tours of the battlefield will be led by local historians Dan Hinton, Scott Britton and William Reynolds. As part of the trip a visit to the National Cemetery is planned and a flag placement on the local graves of those from the 36th OVI will take place. Seats are available for the trip by calling William Reynolds at the Campus Martius Museum at 373-3750.
German merchants topic of event
'German Merchants at the Turn of the 20th Century' will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Betsey Mills Club. The cost is $25 per person. German food, beer, and wine will be served in a festive Octoberfest atmosphere. Seating is limited. Call 373-4981 to reserve a spot.
Fire dept. to hold holiday auction
Wesley TWP Vol. Fire Dept. will hold a Xmas auction at Bartlett Fire House, Bartlett, Oh. on Nov. 3, 2012. It will starts at 6 p.m. and all items are new. Food will be available.
