LUCASVILLE - Warren skipped the dramatics this time and won in a rout.
After rallying to beat Marietta 2-1 in overtime in a sectional final Saturday, the Warriors got two quick goals at the start en route to a 4-0 doninating triumph over Fairfield Union in an Ohio Division 2 district semifinal boys' soccer match at Lucasville Valley High Wednesday night.
Warren, the defending district champion, is now scheduled to play Waverly (17-2) in a championship tilt at Valley at 4 p.m. Saturday. Earlier in another semi, Waverly blanked Circleville, 2-0.
Last year, Warren defeated the Waverly Tigers to claim the district crown.
Andrew Johnson-coached and No. 2-seeded Warren (13-2-4) got first-half goals from Greyson Cantley and Seth Hall.
Cantley, who did not play in the sectional final against the Tigers due to an injury, scored a second goal after the break. Eli Duff, who leads the Warriors in scoring, also had a second-half tally.
Warren keeper Cody Stanley was credited with a clean sheet.
Shane Perdew-led Fairfield Union, the top seed, exits with a 7-4-6 overall record.
Warren staked itself to a 1-0 advantage in the fifth minute of action when Cantley, fresh off the disabled list, headed home Evan Yabs' corner kick. Yabs scored the OT goal that defeated Marietta and advanced the Warriors to district competition.
About five minutes later, Warren got a break when a royal blue and white player was fouled in the penalty area. On the ensuing penalty kick, the freshman Hall beat Falcons keeper Zach Hultz to make it 2-0, also the score at halftime.
Capping all the scoring in the match, Duff scored with 26:44 remaining.
Warren nearly had a fifth goal when Nick Koch put a ball into the back of the net during the 65th minute, but the score was nullified due to an offsides.
