Kennedy brings uncanny common sense to job

November 3, 2012
The Marietta Times

Judge Sharon Kennedy is running for the Ohio Supreme Court and she will bring a working class girl's background, her uncommon common sense, and a passion for justice to the highest judicial office in the State of Ohio.

Sharon Kennedy was the first in her family of eight to graduate from college and she did it by paying her own way. Twenty-seven years ago, she became a police officer in Hamilton and when she wins her race for the Ohio Supreme Court, she will be the first police officer that I know of to serve on the bench. With her trademark energy, drive, determination and tenacity, she put herself through law school working full-time, part-time, days, nights, weekends; whatever it took to pay for her tuition and law books. She has worked hard for everything she has gotten.

After graduation, she hung out her shingle and worked in private practice, solving the community's problems one family at a time. Thirteen years as a Butler County Judge completes one of the most impressive backgrounds any candidate for the Ohio Supreme Court has ever had.

What kind of Ohio Supreme Court Judge will she be? She will be the one who knows it is wrong for judges to legislate from the bench. Sharon Kennedy will be the Justice who looks to the Constitution for guidance and strictly applies the law and does not try to make it. Fair, impartial, honest, serious, calm, confident, measured and decisive, Judge Sharon Kennedy will bring her lifetime of experience as a police officer, private attorney and Butler County Judge to her work on the Ohio Supreme Court.

Her understanding of the law is impressive and her knowledge is deep and expansive. Sharon Kennedy will bring honor and dignity to the State of Ohio as our new Supreme Court Judge.
