The Children Services Bureau is responsible for investigating reports of child abuse and neglect. When necessary they intervene to ensure the safety of children. To children in physical and emotional pain, this agency, in effect, is their lifeline and safe haven. They provide all services essential for families in crisis.
The Sheriff's Office works very closely with Investigators from this agency and their skills are necessary for the successful prosecution of those who abuse and neglect children. In addition to these services they facilitate foster care, adoptions and transitional services for young adults.
All of this is labor intensive, expensive, and made more challenging by hard economic times and uncertainties about future funding levels.
The leadership and staff of the Children Services Bureau has for years been resourceful and responsive to the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the two departments work side-by-side and extremely well together. We need to continue strong child protective services in this community.
I urge you to support the Children Services Levy by voting yes on Nov. 6..
Larry Mincks
Washington County Sheriff
