Ruth A. Walters, 83, of Caldwell, passed away Monday (Nov. 5, 2012) at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. She was born Jan. 20, 1929, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Rev. Dwight Henry and Velvia Miller James.
Ruth was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church in Sharon and the Narcissus Club. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards, fishing and baking. She was a 4-H advisor for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Walters, whom she married April 14, 1948, and who passed away Feb. 11, 1981; son, Larry Walters; stepson, James Walters; two grandsons, Kyle Walters and Nicholas Ramage; granddaughter, Kerry Walters; brother, Earl James; and sister, Mary Danhauer.
She was loved and will be missed by her family, four daughters, Jacque (Mitch) Perkins of Caldwell, Jerri (Jim) Wilson of Smyrna, Ga., Vel (Randy) Baker of Waterford, and Penny (Burt) Ramage of Caldwell; son, Rusty (Elaine) Walters of Caldwell; daughter-in-law, Thelma Walters of Summerfield; grandchildren, Corey and Josh Perkins, Alison and Aneda Baker, Tyler, Dakota, Heidi and Gage Walters, Ivan Ramage; stepgrandchildren, Christi, Stefany, Becky and Stephen Wilson, Anne Mertz, Jane Oliver and Sharon Border; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends will be received Thursday (Nov. 8, 2012) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West St., Caldwell, Ohio. 43724. A funeral service will conclude visitation at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chandler Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Helen Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Cemetery.
