The Marietta Police Department made four arrests Wednesday in connection to the string of daytime burglaries that has plagued Marietta since September, the department announced Thursday.
More arrests are likely, said Capt. Jeff Waite of the Marietta Police Department.
The investigation could bring a much anticipated conclusion to the series of burglaries that have plagued the department since the beginning of September, he said.
"We believe it will close all of the cases surrounding the recent string of break-ins," Waite said.
Wednesday's arrests came after numerous hours of investigation. The current suspects were honed in on over the past three weeks, said Waite.
Waite would not comment on how many houses were involved in the string of events. However, on Oct. 29, he said that 16 burglaries had been reported since the first of September.

Arrested were a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old male juvenile, both with prior records.
Also arrested were Carl Robison, 19, of 235 Johnson Road, Marietta, and Tiffany Conant, also known as Tiffany Johnston, 24, of 108 Riley Drive.
It was enough to compel the office to send out an emergency phone notification to Marietta residents last month. The automated message warned residents to be vigilant and advised them to contact the department if they noticed suspicious activity or people, said Waite.
The arrests Wednesday included two juvenile males, both of whom had previously spent time in Ohio Department of Youth Services facilities, said Waite.
A 15-year-old male was arrested and charged with burglary, a second degree felony. He was also charged with resisting arrest, vandalism, tampering with evidence and violation of supervised release.
A 16-year-old male was charged with vandalism, resisting arrest and violation of supervised release.
The vandalism charges came as a result of the juveniles removing their electronic monitoring bracelets, effectively destroying them in the process.
Also arrested was Carl Robison, 19, of 235 Johnson Road, Marietta, for three second-degree felony counts of burglary and a third-degree felony count of tampering with evidence. He is being held at Washington County Jail on $165,000 bond.
Tiffany Conant, also known as Tiffany Johnston, 24, of 108 Riley Drive, was arrested and charged with a third-degree felony count of tampering with evidence. Conant was taken to the Washington County Jail, but has since posted her $10,000 bond.
All three tampering charges stem from the suspects trying to dispose of the stolen property, said Waite. So far some property has been recovered, though it is not yet apparent if all property will be found.
Waite said the investigation was also made possible by citizen support.
"We thank our citizens who provided information and remained vigilant during this investigation," he said in a MPD news release.
