The election is over and the post mortem begins on why what happened, happened. I believe Romney would have made a good president, but the drag of the party slowed him down. The party should rethink their stance on such issues as raising taxes and immigration. They need to jettison the Karl Rove's and Grover Norquist's. I heard an NBC correspondent who had been on the campaign trail for over two years make a statement based on conversations with the many citizens she had talked to during her travels. She said the main thing these folks expect from the two parties is to work with each other to solve problems. The politicians don't get this. What we do have is a group of people who say "I'm not going to effectively lead if it means I won't get reelected." They want to be a politician first and foremost. Party is always first and solving problems and doing what is right for the country is always second. I believe we now have enough concerned and enlightened people at the grassroots level that can lead and hopefully, the elected officials will follow their lead.
The economy was the major issue for the election. There is good news and bad news ahead. We can side step the "fiscal cliff," the financial crisis, the reality of debt a few more years. When our global financial system does get reset, there will be a meltdown that will cause chaos. That is the bad news. The good news is this environment will move our focus from the material to the spiritual.
