- The Washington County Children Services is sponsoring the "Adopt-a-Child-for-Christmas" project. Letters are being collected from various children in the county, and the organization is seeking individuals or businesses that are willing to purchase gifts for these children.
- Two tree plantings have been planned in Marietta's Bicentennial Grove, one to commemorate the Capitol Christmas tree, the other Thanksgiving. The grove is on the ceremonial mound at Camp Tupper on the Fourth Street side.

- "Jockey" Chase appeared before Mayor Leeper and was fined $5 and other costs for assaulting Charles Johnson. Over the weekend, Chase dropped a beer bottle from an upstairs window and it hit Johnson's head. After Chase was fined, a warrant was put out for Johnson for drunken and disorderly conduct.
- Harry Theis and Pearl Hill pleaded guilty after being indicted for burglary and larceny in connection with the robbery of the Big Bill house boat.
