Court dedication
ceremonies Friday
Dedication ceremonies for the new Marietta Municipal Court are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday on the corner of Third and Butler streets.
The dedication event will be followed by public tours of the facilities until 5 p.m. Construction on the $3.3 million-plus project to renovate the former Ohio Bureau of Employment Services building to house the municipal court began in June 2011 and was completed in May of this year.
Board of elections
to work on audit
The Washington County Board of Elections will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. today at the board office to set the date and select the precincts for the audit of the Nov. 6 general election and any other business that may come before the board.
Democratic women to meet Thursday
The next meeting of the Washington County Democratic Women's Club will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the VFW Post 5108 in Marietta with the business meeting to begin at noon. The speaker will be Nancy Matheny, who will speak about Maude Collins, the first female sheriff in Ohio.
Fort Frye schools committee to meet
There will be a Fort Frye Local Schools Buildings and Grounds Committee meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday in the superintendent's office at Beverly-Center Elementary School.
Spaghetti dinner benefit Friday
A spaghetti dinner benefit for Danita Stegner will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Beverly Eagles. There will be a 50/50 drawing and other prizes will be raffled off. Music by Sam Clark will follow dinner.

Children's Christmas Festival at church
A Children's Christmas Festival will be held at Sand Hill United Methodist Church, in Reno beginning at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The children will make simple Christmas decorations they will hang on the tree outside the church. There will be a tree lighting ceremony and carol singing at 5:15 p.m., followed by refreshments.
