A non-alcoholic and low-calorie food tasting party will be held Dec. 3 at Marietta Memorial Hospital at 7 p.m. The program will feature a recipe book and is free to the public.

Browning-Ferris Industries is waiting on the OK to build two new landfills in Washington County. The ruling will be based on applications that have yet to be submitted.

100 years ago

A train accident near Coolville had traffic on the B.&O. lines backed up for several hours. Several trains had to be detoured over other divisions of the line.

William Mills declined the presidency at Marietta College. Mills would have taken over for the late Alfred Perry.
