Laura M. (Bargy) Bolinger, 91, of Venice, Fla., passed away on Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2012). She was born on Sept. 11, 1921, in Redhouse, N.Y.

After graduating from Fredonia State Teachers College, her first teaching position was in Niagara Falls, N.Y. where she met and married John Bolinger. They were married for 68 wonderful years. Laura was employed as a teacher for 31 years mostly with the Fort Frye School District in Beverly, where she was a respected and loved first grade teacher. She taught hundreds of kids to read! They were active members of the Beverly Presbyterian Church.

They raised a family of six children: Cheryll Hartwigsen (Neil) of Los Lunas, N.M., Janice Schowinsky (John) of Zanesville, Ohio, John J. Bolinger Jr. (Theresa) of Jackson, Mich., Patricia Hoffman (George) of Bluffton, S.C., William Bolinger (Marsha) of Doylestown, Ohio, and James Bolinger (Holly) of Canton, Ohio. Laura was especially proud of her 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

John and Laura moved to Bird Bay in Venice to retire in 1988. They were active seniors: square dancing, playing cards, traveling, volunteering, gardening and golfing.

A private service for Laura will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
