- Forest Beaver, of New Matamoras, who's chest was crushed on Thanksgiving when the car he, his father and a family friend were traveling in went over an embankment, is reportedly doing slightly better. Beaver's father was killed and at first it was believed the boy wouldn't survive his injuries.
- Several road petitions will be heard by the county commissioners. Those from interested communities are invited to visit with the board to see how much money will be given to road repairs.

- Members of Marietta College's chapter of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority will be collecting toys and clothing for Operation Toy Box to assist children in the area.
- Students in the "Quest" class offered at Marietta High School dressed up for the fourth annual Dare To Be Different Day. The objective of the exercise was for students to be totally different from what they really are in order to see how people view others that are "different."
