Denver William Lee Hess, 87, of Beverly, died Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2012) at Muskingum Valley Nursing and Rehab.
He was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Beech Bottom, W.Va., son of Clayton and Bessie Rhoades Hess. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. He was employed by Interlake as a crane operator, where he retired after 31 years. Denver loved going to the Smoky Mountains, Myrtle Beach and camping with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Hall Hess, whom he married Aug. 1, 1948; three sons and a daughter, Dana (Barbara) Hess of Devola, Jerry (Mary) Hess of Beverly, Mark (Mishelle) of Beverly and Sharon Harper (Randy) of Beverly; daughterin-law, Karen Hess of Beverly; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Daniel Hess and a sister, Gladys Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Evangelist Zack Waite officiating. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery with Military services at the grave. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
