CALDWELL - Caldwell's girls dropped to 0-3 after falling 40-24 to visiting Barnesville Thursday night.
Brenna Sawyer paced the Lady Redskins with eight markers, and Jennifer Leasure chipped in with seven.
WCCS 57, Foxfire 49
The Wood County Christian boy's basketball team was victorious over Foxfire Thursday night 57-49. Up by two at halftime, Wood County Christian outscored Foxfire 14-9 in the third quarter to pull away.
The Wildcats got a monster game from Jamie Arnold who scored 32 points and hit five 3-pointers. Scotty Heslop pitched in with seven points while Patrick Goff contributed six.
Wood County Christian shot 20-for-51 (39 percent) from the floor. Goff led the way with 12 boards, followed by eight from Heslop and six from Mitch Morris. Goff also had a team-high five blocks.
The win makes the Wildcats' record 1-1. Their next game is Saturday when they host Williamstown at 6 p.m.
Chas. Catholic 73, Park. Catholic 68
Charleston Catholic and Parkersburg Catholic engaged in a tough battle that saw Charleston Catholic come away with a 73-68 victory.
Garret McCarty provided Charleston Catholic with a game-high 24 points. Zach Casto chipped in with 13 points. Both teams hit six 3-pointers in the game.
Joe Padden paced Parkersburg Catholic with 26 points, and Jake Ullman followed with 22 points. Payton Sturn contributed 12 points in the loss. Parkersburg Catholic drops to 1-1 while Charleston Catholic is 1-0.
Parkersburg Catholic's next game is next Friday at 7:30 when it goes on the road to face Tyler Consolidated.
Monroe Central 70, Magnolia 34
Monroe Central was all over Magnolia Thursday night as the Lady Seminoles were victorious by a score of 70-34. Monroe Central is now 4-2 on the young season.
Chelsey Roberts caused major havoc for Magnolia, scoring 32 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Chelsie Tewanger also had a nice game with 18 points. Magnolia was paced by Mallory Chapman's 14 points.
Chapman also had a game-high 12 rebounds and 4 blocks.
The Lady Seminoles also won the JV game by a score of 45-28
Notre Dame 44, WCCS 36
The Wood County Christian Lady Wildcats were not able to keep up with Notre Dame in a 44-36 loss Thursday night.
Wood County Christian drops to 1-1 with the loss while Notre Dame is now 2-1.
Molly Agnotti scored a game-high 23 points for Notre Dame. The Wildcats were led by Heather Lord's 13 points. Rachel Ruble also chipped in with seven points. Ruble also grabbed 15 boards.
Wood County Christian struggled to make baskets, shooting just 11-for-41 (27 percent) from the floor. The Wildcats also committed 27 turnovers.
They will look to avenge the loss Saturday at 4 p.m. when they host Coshocton Christian.
