Lower Salem party will be Dec. 15

The Lower Salem community annual holiday party will be held at 4 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Lower Salem Village Hall. Soup and sandwiches will be served. The event is free and Santa will arrive with treats for children.

AEP speaker at Natural History Society

The December program of the Marietta Natural History Society will be presented by Paul Prater, community affairs manager for AEP in Ohio and West Virginia. His topic will be "How AEP Responds to Widespread Power Outage." He will be speaking about the extraordinary coordination and collaboration involved across the country as utility crews are dispatched after an event of this magnitude. This presentation will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in Selby Hall, Room 150 at Marietta College. The public is invited to attend.

Masonic ceremony open to the public

American Union Lodge #1 Free & Accepted Masons and Harmar Lodge #390 F&AM will hold a joint installation ceremony at 7 p.m. Monday at the Marietta Masonic Temple, 301 Front St. The ceremony is open to the public. Refreshments will be served afterward.

Churches singing carols Dec. 15

Area churches and organizations will be singing Christmas carols from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Cutler Community Center, 4550 Two Mile Run Road, Cutler. There will be hot drinks and cookies served.

Frontier choirs will present program

The Frontier Middle School Choir and Frontier High School Choir will combine to present their annual Christmas concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in the school cafetorium. Following the concert, there will be a reception of punch and Christmas cookies. Admission is free.

Singles Club party in McConnelsville

Howard House Restaurant in McConnelsville will hold a Singles Club Christmas Party Dinner at 5 p.m. Dec. 16. The cost is $22 per person. Those attending should RSVP by Monday by contacting Henry Swartz after 6 p.m. at 525-4173.
