Students of the Month

The Washington County Career Center honors its November Students of the Month, Caitlyn Markey and Jonathan Casto.

Caitlyn Markey is a Fort Frye senior enrolled in the Sports Medicine and Exercise Science program, and she is the daughter of Richard and Robin Markey of Lower Salem.

At the Career Center, Markey is a member the SkillsUSA youth organization, National Technical Honor Society, and she holds the office class treasurer for her program. She has received awards for the All A's Principal List, All A's & B's Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, and Outstanding English Student. At Fort Frye, she was involved in the FCCLA and was an Office Aid. Sports Medicine & Exercise Science instructor, Lauren Copen, commented on special traits and roles that Markey carries such as conscientious, responsible, trustworthy and leadership.

She currently is working part-time for Cowboy Concessions as a caterer. Upon graduation, Markey plans to attend Washington State Community College to obtain degrees in both physical therapist assistant and massage therapy.

Jon Casto is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Computer Graphics program, and he is the son of Frank and Tammy Casto of Marietta.

Casto is a member of the Career Center's Business Professionals of America (BPA) youth organization and he currently holds the office of Class Treasurer for his program. He has received awards for All A's Principal List, All A's & B's Honor Roll, and Outstanding Computer Graphics Student. At Marietta High School, he was a member of the All Men's Choir. Computer Graphics instructor, Rhonda Knoch, commented on special traits and roles that Casto carries such as he has a true thirst for knowledge, leadership, works well independently and with others, and he will be highly successful in the computer industry.

Casto currently works for the family business, J&J Sporting Goods, in Marietta. After graduating, he plans to attend the Career Center's Adult Technical Training Information Technology Professional program and become certified in Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) and computer repair.
