Floyd Junior Welch, 84, of Cutler, passed away Sunday (Dec. 16, 2012) at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Aileen Welch; his wife of 59 years, Mary Welch; an infant son, Carol Lee Welch; a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Clair Nice and a brother, Wendell Welch.
He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn and John Alkire of Coolville; a granddaughter, Shannon and her husband, Charles Forrider of Coolville; three great-grandsons, Jessie, Chase and Landon; a stepgranddaughter, Shirley Forrider; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Dalton and Mikayla; two brothers, Dwaine (Betty) Welch and Willis Welch of Cutler; and many nieces and nephews.
He served in the Army Air Corp and was a life member of the Athens VFW Post 3477, AmVets Post 76 and D.A.V. He also retired from Athens City Schools.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 19, 2012) at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, with the Rev. Jack Berry officiating. Burial will be in Mount Liberty Cemetery, Cutler. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
