Dean A. and Mary Alice McVay Shepherd of 102 Schilling Street in Oak Grove, Marietta, will be observing their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 26. They were married on that date in 1952 in Jeffersonville, Ind.
She is the daughter of the late Pearl V. and Alta C. McVay, and he is the son of the late J. Arthur and Mildred I. Shepherd.
He worked at B.F. Goodrich, Elston Lumber and Pioneer Home Medical, from which he retired, and she retired from John Grimes Devol Greenhouse.
In August the couple had an early celebration with all of their immediate family at the home of their son, David and his wife, Debra Ann in Burns, Tenn. Also in attendance were son, Joseph (Deborah Lee) of Horizon City, Texas; daughter, Deborah Kay (Gary) Wells of Marietta; grandchildren, Jeff (Lisa) Shepherd of Kingston Springs, Tenn., Jennifer (James) Allen of White Bluff, Tenn., Tim Wells and Rebecca Wells (Chris) Davis of Marietta, Joseph III and Jerred Shepherd of Horizon City, Texas, Jordan Shepherd and Sarah Shepherd of Searcy, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Avery and Elise Shepherd of Kingston Springs, Tenn., Wendy and David Allen of White Bluff, Tenn. and Abigail and Hannah Davis of Marietta.
