- Globe Metallurgical Inc. has recalled some members of the United Steelworkers Union Local 6856 back to work. Members that have been recalled will resume work next week.

- Mrs. Jerry Buckner died from injuries received while attempting to light the fire in her gas stove.
- J.W. Sturgiss was elected secretary emeritus of the American Union Lodge No. 1 F. & A.M. He was elected because of his faithful service to the lodge for a quarter of a century.
