Dorothy Chorpenning, 99, of Marietta, passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2012.
She was born July 5, 1913, in Espy, Pa. to Ralph and Lucinda Sharretts. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, three siblings, and a daughter-in-law (Judy).
She was an active member for more than 20 years in The Marietta Photographic Society, which was founded by her late husband in 1950. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning. She was member of Christ United Methodist Church since 1943, where she participated in their Women's Society. She enjoyed taking photography trips and spent many enjoyable times at their get-away cabin with family and close friends.

She is survived by two sons: Larry Chorpenning (Betsey) and J. Brent Chorpenning (Jeanette); two daughters, Cynda O'Brien (Phillip) and Lauralee Pellecchia (Anthony); seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a brother and sister, and many nieces and nephews.
Services are to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster Street, Marietta 45750 or to Marietta Hospice, 450 Pike St., Marietta 45750.
