- Some Marietta students are prepared to transfer to other schools in order to be active in clubs, sports and music programs.
- Cold weather has halted the oil slick at the Wheeling area. The slick has 103 river miles to travel to make it to the area.

-The adoption of a commission-style government for Marietta is being recommended by the committee formed by Mayor Leeper.
-Water in Pittsburgh and Zanesville is falling, but continued rains are still raising the river levels at Marietta. It is predicted the river crest at Marietta will be 40 or 41 feet.
