David Baker of Lowell was killed when the bulldozer he was operating rolled over on top of him.
Dr. Eugene Plummer, Marietta's health commissioner, said that even when the oil slick arrives in the area next week that Marietta's water supply will still be fine to drink.

A 1.8-mill permanent operating levy is being sought for Ewing and WASCO Workshop. The money is needed for various programs in the new year.
A bald eagle was spotted on Grape Island, near St. Mary's W.Va. The 3- or 4-year-old eagle was spotted by Elsa Thompson of Bird Watcher's Digest.

A second rise in river levels had the crest at nearly 43 feet. No immediate fall of water levels is predicted.
Whitford Robinson, 18, who was thought to be crazed by drink, attempted breaking into and entering several residences near Seventh and Greene streets. Failing both times, the boy ran through an alley to get away from the police. Relatives found him out cold in a chicken coop near his home.
