Marilyn Pearl Shankland, 67, of Reno, Ohio, passed away Saturday (Feb. 2, 2013) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 19, 1945, to Charles and Gertrude (Matheny) Benson. On Feb. 29, 1964, she married the love of her life, Charles Edward Shankland.
She loved her family and being a grandmother, enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her bingo friends.
Marilyn is survived by three sons, Wayne (Renee) Shankland, Randy (Barbara) Shankland, and Scott Shankland, all of Marietta; grandchildren, Jesse, Cassie, Anthony, Lia and Cody Shankland, and Shawna Daniell; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Dearrell (Gladys) Benson; and six sisters, Janet (Tom) Grahame, Bonnie (Ed) Delong, Anna Mae (Joe) Huck, Sandra (Jimmy) Cooke, Nancy (Jim) Murphy, Christine Decker, and Wilma (Ralph) Carpenter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Shankland; and five siblings, Charles (Mary) Benson, Delmus Gene Benson, Ernest Lee Benson, Patricia Anne Benson and Donna Sue Benson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Feb. 6) at 1 p.m. at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Page officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
