- Joshua M. Frum has been named the 1988 Marietta poster child for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Frum will serve as the association's local goodwill ambassador.
- A $225 Artsbridge scholarship will be awarded to an area youth interested in learning boatbuilding skills.
100 years ago
- Homer McLain, who was indicted for the murder of his father, will be soon committed to an insane asylum. The jury reached the decision within an hour.
- A woman who resides on Hart Street called police to report that she was insulted by a man while she was walking along the street. A warrant for his arrest is expected to be sworn out today.
