DRESDEN - An impressive 2012-13 campaign for the Morgan High girls' basketball team came to an end Saturday as the Lady Raiders fell 54-34 to River View in a sectional tournament game at Tri-Valley High School.
In a season where Morgan posted 15 wins, finished second in the Muskingum Valley League and set several school records, the Lady Raiders ran into a tough opponent River View, who shot 22-for-37 (59 percent) from the floor.
The Lady Bears did the majority of their damage inside the 3-point line, shooting 21-for-27 (78 percent) on 2-point attempts.
"We were down 10 at the half, which I still think was do-able," said Morgan head coach Tim Bowman. "They just kept extending it in the third. Our game is up and down the floor, and look for the perimeter shot. Once they extended that lead to about 16 or 18, we just couldn't come back."
River View's Andi Daugherty had a game-high 21 points to go along with nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. Sam Ringwalt also posted double figures with 14 points.
Morgan was led by Darian Apperson's 17 points. Apperson, along with Chani Hopkins, also grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

In spite of going one-and-done in the tournament, Bowman had a lot of things to be happy about.
"I couldn't be more proud of the effort our girls gave all year long," Bowman said. "Our success was due to the fact they were playing for each other, not for themselves. Hopefully they started something good here."
Morgan finished the season with a 15-8 record, while River View improved to 18-5. The Lady Bears will now face Maysville Thursday in a sectional final.
