Lenten fish fries

at Lowell church

Our Lady of Mercy Church in Lowell will host Lenten fish fries from 4 to 7:30 p.m. this Friday, and on March 8 and March 22 in the church hall, 5001 Lowell Hill Road. The cost is $7.50 for adults, $4 for children under 12 and free for those under 5.

Pancake breakfast

at Little Hocking

The Little Hocking United Methodist Men will hold a pancake breakfast from 6:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday. There will be all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage. Donations will be used for community service projects and to send boxes to soldiers serving overseas. The breakfast is open to the public. The church is located on the corner of Federal Road and Ohio 124 in Little Hocking.

History series

at Cutler Center

The Third Thursday History Series will feature guest speaker Ada Woodson Adams, executive director of the Multicultural Genealogical Center (MGC) in Chesterhill, at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cutler Community Center. Adam's presentation will focus on "Albany Ohio's Past - The Paintings," telling a story of the Underground Railroad in Athens County. The event is free and open to the public. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the canteen.

Sunday event helps MHS cross country

The ninth annual Cabin Fever 2 Mile Run/Walk, which supports the Marietta City Schools' cross country program, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Broughton Nature Preserve off Ohio 821 near Marietta. The start and finish is at the picnic shelter and there is parking available. This race includes both individual and team entries for both the run and walk. Registration for individuals is $15. Ely Chapman spring fling carnival March 2

The Ely Chapman Education Foundation will hold its Spring Fling Luau Carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2 at the foundation, 403 Scammel St., Marietta. There will be a book give-away, food/bake sale, silent auction, country store, and reading activities for children.
