A Marietta man was taken to a Columbus hospital by helicopter after a two-vehicle crash around 8 a.m. Monday on Ohio 550 west of Marietta.
The crash occurred after Marietta resident James C. Brookover, 27, went left of center in his 2003 Ford Focus, striking Marietta resident Mathew A. Peckens, 36, in his 2007 Chrysler Town and Country, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at Johnson Road on Ohio 550 in Warren Township.
Both drivers had a young child in the car, but neither child was seriously injured.
A release from the patrol said Brookover was taken to the The Ohio State University Hospital by helicopter. His condition was not available Monday evening.
The child in his car, 14-month-old Cole Brookover, was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital by the Warren EMS, where he was treated and released.
Peckens was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital by the Devola EMS, for multiple injuries including a broken shin and tail bone.
He was later transferred from to another facility Monday, according to a nursing supervisor at Marietta Memorial Hospital. His passenger, 17-month-old Corbin Peckens was taken by Devola EMS to MMH, where he was treated and released.
Everyone but James Brookover was confirmed to be wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the release.
Ohio 550 was closed for more than two hours due to the crash.
Charges have not been filed as the investigation continues, according to the patrol.
