Kimberly J. Harter, 52, of Belpre, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2013) at Cabell-Huntington Hospital.
She was born in Parkersburg on Nov. 28, 1960, and was the daughter of William D. Harter (Jewell) of Ravens-wood, W.Va., and Margy Helen (Terry) Rutherford of Lubeck, W.Va. She attended Ripley and Sissonville High School. She retired from DuPont, loved nature and camping and spending time taking care of her granddaughter, Josie. She spent her whole life giving to others even at the end by giving the gift of life as an organ donor.
Survivors include her two daughters, Margie L. Harter of Belpre, Leslie L. (Jon) Yoak of St. Marys, W.Va.; granddaughter, Josie R. Harter; two grandsons, Landon M. Yoak and Roman Yoak; two brothers, Bill (Shauna) Harter Jr. of Vincent, David (Alma) Harter of Parkersburg; and a sister, Brenda (Jeff) Baker of Lowell; several nieces and nephews; and her special friend and companion, Robert Strahler of Little Hocking. Also in memory of her dog, Jasmine, who was at her side until her death.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leona Bell and Kenneth Leslie Simers and Ed and Ethel Harter.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Pastors John Strimer, Mark Eaton officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
