Marshall Wilson of Greer, S.C. received his Boy Scout Eagle Rank during a Court of Honor ceremony on Jan. 5. Marshall is the grandson of Hugh and Betty Hopper of Marietta and the second Hopper grandson to become an Eagle Scout, following his older brother, Gregory, who became an Eagle Scout in February 2009.
Marshall, a member of BSA Troop 776 in Simpsonville, S.C., passed his Eagle Board of Review on Sept. 25, 2012. For his Eagle rank, he organized and led a project to mark a three mile section of Greenville's Swamp Rabbit Trail, which runs through Lake Conestee Nature Park, with mileage information that allows 911 operators to assist first responders in locating emergency situations along the trail. The project was completed in April 2012. He is a freshman at Eastside High School and a member of the Eastside Cross Country team.
