reservoir program
Friends of Lower Muskingum River is sponsoring a program Water Supply for Beneficial Use: MWCD and it's Reservoirs: Since the creation of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District 80 years ago the storage of runoff water for beneficial use has always been part of the system's purpose. Today there are demands for water throughout eastern Ohio that was never imagined before but through planning and wise use, the benefits for both our environmental and human needs can be met. The speaker is Sean Logan, Chief of Conservation for the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District. Logan will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday March 21 in Rm. 150 Selby Hall, Marietta College. The public is invited to attend.
Extension program on calories, drinks
Cindy Styer, local Family Nutrition Program assistant with Ohio State University Extension will be at the county's area libraries to explain how many calories are in favorite drinks. Since drinking milk can help people lose weight, too, at this class participants will get "10 Steps to Losing the First 10 Pounds" and a special nutrition month gift.
Upcoming class dates: Marietta on March 18, New Matamoras on March 21, and Beverly on March 27. All classes are at 1:30 in the afternoon. For more information: 376-7431.

Special schedule this week at MHS
During the week of March 11 to 15, Marietta High School will have an alternate schedule to accommodate the Ohio Graduation Testing. All sophomores, selected upperclassmen and any student who must ride a bus will report to school at the normal time daily. The rest of the student body, who have their own transportation, are not required to report to class until 10:55 a.m. Lunch will be served from 10:15 to 10:55 a.m. with an abbreviated seven period schedule to follow lunch each day. Birding documentary showing March 26
Come enjoy a free viewing of "Birders: The Central Park Effect" documentary at the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge on Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. The movie will be held at Refuge Headquarters located on 3982 Waverly Road in Williamstown.
